Where and when

We aim to launch a Kickstarter in early 2025, where you can pick up one of our genesis set boxes. 

What is a set box?

Carbon Eclipse uses a unique Complete Set Distribution Model (CSDM). This means that rather than buying booster packs you can purchase a far more consumer friendly set box. These set boxes include:

• 1 copy of each hero 

• 1 copy of each cataclysm 

• 1 copy of each fortune

• 3 copies of each machine

• 3 copies of each cyborg

• 3 copies of each troop

• 3 copies of each non cataclysmic event

This means that with the purchase of a set box you will have every single card from a given set, allowing you to have unlimited deck building options.

Carbon Eclipse Genesis

Our first set, Carbon Eclipse Genesis, is slated to be released in mid 2025. This set will have a limited print run and only be available for those who participate in the Kickstarter campaign. 

Carbon Eclipse Mock I

Given a successful Kickstarter and reception of our debut set, we will release our second set, Carbon Eclipse Mock I. This set will be widely available, with a larger print run featuring reprints from Genesis and many brand new cards and mechanics. Mock I will be released between late 2025 and early 2026. 

Carbon Eclipse Mock II, and Beyond

In the months and years following the release of our initial 2 sets we hope to implement a regular set release schedule, with a moderate 2 to 4 sets being printed per year.

We understand that with a game like this as more sets are created it will become ever more expensive to enter and enjoy the game. For this reason we are implementing a 3 format approach.

• Boundless: this will be a competitive 1 v. 1 format, featuring all sets ever released. It will have a banned list to maintain format health. And as the game develops we hope to begin running competitive tournaments. 

• New Age: this will also be a competitive 1 v. 1 format, featuring the 4 most recent sets. Rather than a hard rotation this format will rotate slowly, with the oldest legal set rotating out as the next set rotates in. This will be a more budget friendly option as to enter the format at most you will only ever have to purchase 4 set boxes. This format will have a banned list and competitive tournaments. 

• Galactic Showdown: This will be a casual multiplayer format. This format will have a rotating and non rotating mode for card legality. Structured tournament play will not be supported for this format. There will be a banned list, however, considering the casual nature of the format we encourage discussion and house rules around the banned list.

These are the current formats which we plan to support, and we encourage you, the community, to create your own formats to play Carbon Eclipse in a way which brings you the most enjoyment.
